| Actor blocking is a sketch of the movement by
the actors in a particular scene as a bird’s eye view.
It also gives an indication of where the camera should be placed
to film the shot. The aim of actor blocking is to give all the
people involved in the production of the scene an understanding
of what is going to happen. The camera crews can also work out
where is the best place to set up the camera.
In the storyboard of Stikkup shots 2 – 5 would
make up the first scene. (If you had been given the whole
storyboard, there would have been more shots in the bank.
The two characters would have had to exit the bank at some
stage!)
An actor blocking sketch for shots 2 – 5 is illustrated
below. Remember the main purpose is to show the movement of
the actors and camera position.
